Russell Reed Sanderson (who introduced himself using his legal name) addressed the council, saying he has roughly 26 years of experience in municipal finance, including 18 years at Sandy City and eight years at South Jordan, and that he transferred to Cottonwood Heights in May. Sanderson said his father served as a finance director in West Valley City and that he looks forward to continuing his municipal finance career in Cottonwood Heights.
Council member Suzanne Hyland moved to approve the resolution; Council member Matt Holton seconded. The council voted 'yes' and the appointment passed. City staff noted Sanderson planned to take the oath in his office the following day.
What happens next: Sanderson will assume the duties of treasurer and financial reporting manager consistent with city personnel and financial policies; a formal swearing-in will be scheduled as noted by staff.
