Cottonwood Heights City Council voted unanimously Tuesday to approve Ordinance 440, annexing the Creek Road West area and imposing temporary zoning regulations.
The measure passed after a motion by Council member Suzanne Hyland and a second from Council member Matt Holton. Mayor Mike Quickers called the roll; Council members Holton, Hyland, Newell and Burrell recorded "yes" votes and the ordinance was approved.
Council opened a public hearing on the Creek Road West annexation earlier in the meeting and received no public comment before closing that hearing. The mayor said the annexation was discussed in the work session earlier in the day and that staff provided background on the proposed temporary zoning.
Water Vista Way, a separate annexation item, was opened for public comment but the council continued that hearing to its June 17 meeting and left the record open for additional input.
Next steps include formal integration of the annexed area into city services and application of the temporary zoning regulations until a permanent land-use plan is adopted.
