Committee members and PAC advisory volunteers noted ticketed adult events and certain concerts can be costly to produce; offering beverages could increase attendance revenue. The discussion focused on constraints: state temporary Class B licenses may be issued only to certain bona fide clubs or chambers, insurance carriers may decline coverage or require conditions, and legal counsel must vet liability exposure.
Committee members generally favored a cautious approach. The administration suggested options such as partnering with a local business or booster club to hold the temporary license, using outside bartending professionals, limiting sales to ticket holders with per‑person limits or drink tickets, and ensuring all alcohol is removed after an event. "If we decide to move forward...we'd certainly have to have a discussion with probably the clerk at the village to find out who the best entity is to apply for that temporary license," said one trustee.
Next steps: The committee asked administration to check with the district's insurer and legal counsel about exposure, and to bring back recommended policy edits and operational guidelines. Committee members emphasized preference for outsourcing beverage service to trained professionals and for not storing alcohol on campus between events.
