Council holds first reading to add all-way stop at Grant Boulevard intersection

Lebanon City — The Lebanon City Council held a first reading of Ordinance 2026-01, which would amend Chapter 76 (traffic schedules) to add an all-way stop at Grant Boulevard and the intersecting street in the Angelea/Angeles neighborhood.

Kevin, a city presenter, told the council the ordinance is similar to previous stop-sign ordinances and comes at the request of Councilperson Copeland to install a three-way (all-way) stop in the neighborhood. “So this comes to us at the request of council person Copeland to install a three way stop in Angelea Gardens at the intersection of Angeles Way and Grant Boulevard,” Kevin said.

Councilperson Copeland said neighbors reported safety concerns tied to increased housing and to cars parked for a nearby sales/show home that sometimes block sight lines. Copeland said those conditions had made turns from Grant Boulevard difficult and raised worries about children in the area.

Kevin said he would review the traffic schedule regarding parking near intersections, mentioned the possibility of coordinating curb painting at the site in spring and recommended first approaching the sales center to ask employees to use off-street parking.

Rob read the ordinance language for Chapter 76, Schedule 5, adding the named intersection to the city’s stop-intersection schedule and noting the ordinance would take effect in accordance with Indiana law. The mayor said there was no public comment and scheduled the second reading for Jan. 26 at 7:15 p.m.

No formal vote was taken on Ordinance 2026-01 at this meeting; the item is scheduled for a second reading.
