Superintendent Brian Kingsley reported an embargoed state data release showing a district graduation rate of 89%, announced a district podcast, and warned that enrollment has declined by about 500 students this school year — a trend that may affect budgets and services.
Superintendent Brian Kingsley told the Poudre School District board on Jan. 13 that state data — released under embargo to the district that day — show the district’s graduation rate reached 89%, the highest in district history.
Kingsley framed the figure as a testament to teachers, support staff and community partners while acknowledging further work remains. He also announced a new district communications effort: a podcast titled The District, intended to highlight district operations and answer community questions.
At the same time, Kingsley warned the board that district enrollment has fallen by roughly 500 students this school year, a decline that state demographers do not expect to reverse soon. "We anticipate that while our enrollment this current school year has declined by approximately 500 students again... we know that they're not projecting any rebound in the near future," Kingsley said, and added the trend will affect the district’s budget and services.
Kingsley said a comprehensive planning committee is already working and will present its first formal update at the next board meeting.
Separately, the board later approved a motion to move into an executive session to receive legal advice under several Colorado Revised Statutes and to develop collective bargaining strategy for the 2026–27 school year; the board recorded a 6–0 roll-call vote to enter the closed session.
