An unidentified commissioner nominated Brian DiRocia for vice chair at the Jan. 5 Eaton County Board of Commissioners meeting. After a motion to close nominations and a second, commissioners voted to elect DiRocia and the board administered the oath of office.
The nomination was moved and supported on the floor; the board moved to close nominations and then proceeded to vote on the named nominee. Following the vote the presiding official asked the new vice chair to take the oath: “Do you solemnly swear that you'll support the Constitution of the United States and the constitution of this state, that you will faithfully discharge the duties of vice chairperson for 2026 according to the best of your bill?” The nominee replied, “I do.”
The election and oath were handled as routine organizational business at the start of the board’s January meeting. No amendment to the nomination or challenge to the outcome was recorded in the transcript. The board then continued with its agenda.
