Fremont County board to hold annual reorganization meeting; chair role to rotate

Fremont Countys Board of County Commissioners said their first meeting of the year will take place the morning after this recording at 9 a.m. and will include the boards annual reorganization to name a chair, chair pro tem and other official roles. Commissioner Kevin Grantham, who opened the countys weekly update program, said the board routinely rotates those leadership duties and that "tomorrow, we will install Debbie Bell as empress supreme of the Board of County Commissioners," a remark he delivered lightheartedly on air.

The short, procedural meeting will also include routine housekeeping: designation of the county attorney, official posting places for public notices, and the countys official depositories, Commissioner Debbie Bell said. Commissioners noted that state law still requires a designated newspaper for official postings, which can complicate public notice for more rural counties that lack a daily paper. "We only have one choice at this point," Dwayne McFall said, explaining the practical challenge for smaller jurisdictions.

Commissioners asked residents to note a forthcoming schedule change in February for one regularly scheduled meeting and said the county will publish its official calendar, posting notices at county facilities and on the county website. The board encouraged public attendance at reorganizational and regular meetings and invited residents to contact county offices or consult the county website for details and agendas.

The reorganization is a routine, administrative step that sets who will preside and which official roles the board will perform during the year. No formal votes or policy changes related to other agenda items were announced during the program.
