The council authorized execution of an aviation fee/lease agreement that enables the Iowa National Guard to bring a Blackhawk helicopter to Urbandale's National Night Out event in August.

A city staff member explained the agreement is the same as in prior years and was typically signed by the city manager; last year the council asked to review and authorize the agreement formally. "The National Night Out every year, they're essentially the Blackhawk helicopter comes to the event," staff said while explaining the arrangement.

Councilmember Bode moved to authorize the agreement; Carberry Montgomery seconded. A roll-call vote recorded all present councilmembers voting yes and the motion passed.

Staff said the authorization covers only the event day and that future similar agreements will be presented to the council each January as part of standard practice.
