Discussion included tradeoffs between installing compactors (which reduce truck runs but add equipment cost and maintenance) and maintaining open green‑box sites. Staff said prior work and purchases totalled roughly $85,000 to $100,000 to date and warned that full construction could range from hundreds of thousands to over $1 million depending on grading, utilities and required environmental measures.
Supervisors agreed to get the additional engineering detail and noted that any further work would be weighed against long‑term operating savings and available budget. No construction decision or appropriation was made at the meeting.
