Staff proposes $300 engineering deposit as part of new Floyd County planning fees

County planning staff presented proposed changes to Floyd County's planning fees tied to the recently adopted land division ordinance, including new fees for private/public new roads and centralized private water and wastewater systems.
Miss Carter (county planner) told the board the proposed fee schedule keeps most existing charges but adds four new fees and an initial engineering review deposit. Staff proposed an upfront $300 deposit at plan submission to cover an initial engineer review; if additional engineering review is required the developer would be billed for the balance of costs charged to the county.
Miss Carter said the county is also procuring an on‑call engineer to support plan reviews and that the final engineering cost could vary with the scale and complexity of each submission. She said refunds would be issued if the final charge is less than the deposit.
After the presentation the board opened and then closed the public hearing; board members voted to close the hearing without immediate changes to the proposal and requested staff return with any follow‑up documentation needed for formal adoption.
