Madison County staff said the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) will hold a public hearing in the county chamber on March 2 at 7:00 p.m. to consider the wastewater permit renewal for Mountain View Nursing Home.

The board previously asked DEQ for a public hearing after staff and community members raised concerns about the facility’s permit renewal process. County staff told the board they have notified interested parties and will post the hearing on the county website and calendar.

A public participant (Speaker 29) emphasized that the hearing “has nothing to do with the care or treatment of the residents at Mountain View Nursing Home,” saying the matter concerns only the request for changes related to sewage discharge and related environmental controls. County staff agreed to confirm meeting logistics and provide notice to stakeholders.

Board members and staff indicated they will follow up with DEQ if additional technical or scheduling details are needed and will make public outreach information available once DEQ finalizes the hearing packet and time.
