The Southfield Board of Education approved the consent agenda and moved to open and approve several information items tied to bond and general fund work.

A motion to approve the consent agenda passed without recorded opposition. Trustees also moved to open and approve the personnel action report (Report 6440); the motion was supported and carried.

Superintendent Jennifer Green briefed the board on information items related to facilities and move management. She said the University campus elevator retrofit would be less expensive than building a new shaft — "less than $200,000 to retrofit this elevator, and it would be funded out of bond dollars." The retrofit aligns with bond work and parts availability from local elevator vendors.

The board also heard a request to lease a vehicle to deliver hot lunches during the district’s campus moves; Green said the leased vehicle would be paid from the general fund and that food deliveries to swing spaces have been timely during the first week and two days of the transition.

On move management, Green said Palmer has been the district’s primary mover and that negotiations had reduced rates by approximately $434,000. Because Palmer was nearing capacity, the district proposed adding a secondary mover (Premier) to handle moves tied to the University campus. The board was asked to consider approving an additional move company (Report 6445) and to approve related bond items grouped in Reports 6441–6446.

After trustees supported a motion to open and approve those reports, the board secretary called the vote; multiple trustees voted yes and the motion carried.

All information items were presented for board action and approved as recorded in the meeting minutes; administrators said they would continue to monitor logistics and timelines as the bond work proceeds.
