The College Place City Council voted on Jan. 13 to award a $478,235 professional services contract to David Evans and Associates for design and right-of-way work on two Safe Routes to School projects covering areas around Sager Middle School and Davis Elementary.
Public works staff said the city combined two state-administered Safe Routes grants for Sager and Davis into a single procurement, received four proposals and selected David Evans and Associates. The scope as described to council spans multiple segments of the city, including sections on Ash, Birch and Central that collectively cover much of the district's walking routes to school.
Council member Green moved the contract and Council member Williams seconded. The motion, read in full by Council member Green, stated: "Motion to approve the contract with David Evans and Associates and authorize public works director or designee to sign contract for professional services in the amount of $478,235, which consists of engineering and right of way." The motion passed by voice vote.
Next steps: staff will proceed with design, right-of-way work and subsequent public outreach and permitting as the project advances toward construction funding and implementation.
