Participants at the Englewood City mayor–manager meeting on Jan. 7, 2026, reviewed the council calendar and a set of draft agenda items scheduled for Jan. 20 and later February meetings, including a proposed $1,000,000 contract with Allied Universal and tentative police-union reopeners that staff said hold salary increases at 1%.
The meeting was procedural and brief, with staff listing upcoming interview dates for boards and commissions, recognition items, proposed contracts and intergovernmental agreements, and several municipal code and grant items to be taken up at future council meetings. No votes or formal actions were taken at the Jan. 7 meeting.
Among the items staff highlighted for the Jan. 20 agenda were: a resolution to appoint council liaisons to boards and commissions; temporary construction easements for the Old Hammond Complete Streets project; a proposed $1,000,000 contract between Allied Universal and the City of Englewood; CCPM contract renewals for landscaping/ground maintenance at the city center and for snow-and-ice removal; and municipal code updates including CB 18 (boards and commissions cleanup) and an ordinance to raise the theft jurisdictional limit in municipal court.
Staff also listed an intergovernmental agreement (IGA) with Littleton for a joint bridge project and a mutual-aid agreement with the Arapahoe County Board of Health for disaster and emergency planning. The agenda preview included an Arapahoe County Adult Protective Services cooperative agreement intended to address investigation and reporting involving at-risk adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and a CIPA grant acceptance labeled as CB 1.
Labor items on the draft agenda included two 2025 reopener tentative agreements: one between the city and the Englewood Police Benefits Association and another identified in the meeting as "the EEA." Participants noted questions about whether to place those agreements on the consent agenda; staff suggested tentatively placing them on consent and revisiting the items the following week or when the mayor is present. Staff characterized both reopeners as holding salary increases at 1%.
February agenda previews included a Feb. 2 consideration of building and fire code adoption and accessory dwelling unit (ADU) language; Feb. 9 updates on neighborhood traffic calming and a South Broadway revitalization phase 2 update; and a Feb. 17 study session on proposed strategic-plan outcomes and an IGA with the Regional Transportation District (RTD) for a city shuttle. A Feb. 23 meeting would include a first reading of a chronic-nuisance abatement ordinance tied to a recent state law change.
City staff confirmed a council retreat to be held at the South Platte Renew facility in January and noted the Jan. 26 study-session meeting would be canceled. Council asked staff to follow up on questions about Flock cameras raised previously.
The meeting concluded with no formal actions recorded; the flagged items will appear on future council agendas for discussion or formal consideration. Staff committed to revisiting the police-union reopeners and other flagged items at the next scheduled meeting or when the mayor is available.
