Commission approves minutes, notes staff promotions and opens summer hiring for Pirates Cove

The Englewood Parks & Recreation Commission unanimously approved minutes from its Dec. 11 meeting and heard personnel and administrative updates on Jan. 14.
Director Christina Underhill reported several internal promotions: Tim Holt, a long-time park supervisor, was promoted to open space manager; Annie Bethard moved from aquatic supervisor to aquatics manager; and a maintenance tech with lifeguard experience was promoted to aquatic supervisor. Underhill said one park supervisor position remains open with applications accepted through next Friday and encouraged referrals.
Underhill also said summer hiring for Pirates Cove lifeguards and concession staff is expected to open in mid-February, with a minimum age for some positions noted as 15. The commission discussed the bond oversight committee: Underhill said Jenna is stepping off that committee and staff asked for a member from the commission to serve; Cody Phelps volunteered to join the oversight committee and staff confirmed he would serve.
Other administrative items included council-approved drainage work at Broken Tee to remove soil on the east side of the river, planning for Centennial Park docks replacement and the upcoming strategic-plan survey on Englewood Engage, which staff said is open through about April. No substantive policy votes beyond the minutes approval occurred at the meeting.
The commission adjourned at 6:04 p.m.
