The City Commission approved several routine items and announcements at its Jan. 12 meeting.
Equipment purchase: Commissioners approved a quote from Kibble Equipment to buy a 2026 wide‑area parks mower for $72,059.68. Engineering staff (identified as Sean) said the machine includes a four‑post rollover protection canopy and meets the parks department’s operational needs. The purchase passed on a roll‑call vote.
Election administration: The commission approved a combined election agreement with the county and the local school district to coordinate the June 2, 2026 election. Staff said the city attorney reviewed and approved the agreement.
Golf contract: Commissioners renewed the golf management contract for 2026 with a 3% increase in the contract amount and a timing adjustment to the contract term. Commissioner Bragg said there were no significant changes; a commissioner asked staff to provide a report on rounds played and revenue trends over the past five years. Staff agreed to provide those numbers.
Holiday schedule: Solid waste staff announced the rubble site will be closed Monday, Jan. 19, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Monday’s garbage, recycling and yard‑waste collections will occur Wednesday, Jan. 21 instead. Citizens were asked to put containers out the night before; the chair noted city offices would be closed for the observance and provided payment options.
Votes at a glance: the consent agenda (minutes, personnel appointment of Robert Sheneman as solid waste maintenance 1, volunteer firefighter resignation for Alex Reggio, raffle permits for Kristen Jurgens and Renee Pewterbaugh, and payment of bills) and the above items were approved by roll call.
The meeting then moved into a work session after official business concluded.
