HIP Housing presents 2026 calendar; Pacifica Resource Center reports 86 documented unhoused residents

Peggy Jensen, a member of the HIP Housing board of directors and former assistant county executive for San Mateo County, presented a brief update to Pacifica City Council on Jan. 12 and handed out HIP Housing’s 2026 calendar, which features children’s artwork selected from countywide submissions.
Jensen reviewed HIP Housing’s countywide services: since 1972 HIP has worked to help low‑income San Mateo County residents find and maintain affordable housing and last year worked with “over 3,900 individuals” and helped more than 750 low‑income households, according to her remarks. She described HIP’s HomeShare, housing readiness and self‑sufficiency programs and said HIP currently supports three HomeShare households in Pacifica with a fourth match in progress.
"We would really appreciate it if you would spread the word about HomeShare," Jensen said, describing screening, living agreements and ongoing check‑ins to support matches.
During the public comment period, Anita Reese of the Pacifica Resource Center gave program updates and operational hours, announced free tax help launched Jan. 31 and described outreach schedules. Reese reported the PRC had documented 86 people experiencing homelessness in Pacifica: 20 in the safe‑parking program, six encampments that include 67 people (two encampments overlap with safe parking), and 19 people not in encampments. She invited volunteers to participate in the Jan. 29 one‑day homeless count, noting PRC will serve as base operations.
Other public commenters highlighted community arts programming at Sanchez Art Center and additional PRC services including pet assistance, grocery and holiday distribution programs.
What happens next: HIP Housing will continue outreach for HomeShare matches in Pacifica; PRC will proceed with the one‑day homeless count and continue client services and outreach as described.
