The Consolidated Human Services Board received a series of operational updates from agency staff covering 2025 service volumes and recent program activity.
Staff reported about 94,421 client contacts across human services units in 2025, with roughly 28,209 check‑ins for Department of Social Services (DSS) services, 21,070 calls through the switchboard and 3,595 interpreter hours. Karen, a DSS division manager, said Medicaid open‑enrollment activity generated roughly 700 applications per week during the period and staff are working overtime to process the volume.
Senior services staff said a Christmas bureau effort assisted about 1,800 individuals and the senior nutrition program removed 91 clients from its waitlist since July after receiving additional funds; the current waitlist stands at about 301 people. Transportation staff described a recent multi‑agency emergency drill involving EMS, fire and police that simulated vehicle extrication and multiple casualties to strengthen incident command and interagency coordination.
The board acknowledged staffing pressures and thanked staff for their work. Staff indicated they will continue reporting operational metrics and will provide additional updates on budget season as details are available.
