San Benito County’s Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to adopt a set of modest branding actions that formally recognize the county as "Home of Pinnacles National Park." Staff presented recommendations from the tourism advisory committee, including adopting a proclamation, incorporating the slogan into the county seal and communications, and issuing a press release.

Tourism staff described the effort as low-cost and largely ready for implementation: a mock-up of the logo with the new words was on the agenda and staff said small text changes could be handled within the CEO’s authority. Board members discussed maintaining the county’s established year in the seal, performing a service-mark search to guard against conflicts, and coordinating with adjacent jurisdictions.

County counsel advised the board that a service-mark search and due diligence would be appropriate if the board wished to protect the slogan for public use. A motion to adopt the proclamation, the resolution incorporating the slogan into the seal/logo while retaining the established date, and to direct staff to issue a press release carried on a unanimous 5-0 vote.
