Livingston Parish zoning commissioners unanimously denied a rezoning request for three parcels near Clinton Allen Road after a string of public objections that emphasized neighborhood character and a mismatch with the parish master plan.
Brandy Methvin, the applicant for one of the related items, asked for a procedural change to put her request on the record; neighbors led the public comment. Bobbie Jo Geran, who lives near the site, told the commission: “We don't want any more mobile homes,” and said the area has largely higher‑value single‑family houses and that introducing mobile homes or multifamily units would “mess the whole atmosphere up.” Several other residents said the parcels border predominantly single‑family yards and that the master plan recommends lower‑density uses.
Commissioners asked technical questions about lot sizes, access and whether an existing nonconforming mobile home on the property covered more than one proposed tract. Zoning staff clarified that the hearing was limited to the zoning classification and that drainage or specific site details would be considered later in planning if rezoning were approved.
Commissioner Danner moved to deny the rezoning; Commissioner Burns seconded. Roll‑call votes recorded in the hearing transcript show the motion passed unanimously, with Mister Engler, Mister Clemens, Mister Erdy, Mister Wax, Mister Dana, Mister Burns, Miss Farris and Miss Long recorded as voting yes.
The denial leaves the parcels in their current classification; the applicant may refile or pursue other planning paths but the commission’s action halts rezoning at this time.
