Kenner issues proclamation honoring Special Olympics athlete Emily Heinrich

Kenner — Mayor Michael J. Glazer presented a city proclamation honoring Emily Heinrich, a resident of the Driftwood Subdivision and a Special Olympics athlete.
In the proclamation read to the council, Mayor Glazer noted that Heinrich represented Louisiana at the 2022 Special Olympics USA Games in Orlando, competed in swimming events including the 100-yard breaststroke and the 200-yard freestyle, and helped the state by earning a gold-medal showing on a national stage. The proclamation cited past honors, including being selected as Outstanding Female Special Olympics Athlete of the Year for 2016 and serving on the Special Olympics Louisiana Athlete Leadership Council.
Mayor Glazer also noted that Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser invited Heinrich to ride in the 2025 Rose Bowl Parade in recognition of her achievements. The mayor, the police chief and council members joined Heinrich for a photo following the presentation.
The council and mayor extended congratulations to Heinrich and commended her leadership and representation of the community.
