The clerk called the roll and the motion passed unanimously, recorded as "9 in favor, none opposed." The council’s roll-call vote made Hollingsworth the council president for the two-year term.
Hollingsworth said her role would be to facilitate the council’s work, not override it, and emphasized transparency and staff recognition. She thanked staff, central staff, the clerk's office and other city employees for their role in the legislative department. The council immediately proceeded with swearing-in ceremonies for newly elected at-large members.
