At its Jan. 12 meeting the Bellflower City Council approved the consent calendar, including awarding a contract to California Landscape for $142,490 to build a dog park on the southeast corner of Crothers Park.
Staff described the project scope: extend a walking path to the corner, fence and subdivide the footprint to create separate small-dog and large-dog areas, install a dog drinking fountain and provide a few benches. Staff said the project budget had previously allocated $372,000 for the park; the low bid of $142,490 means the city will have funds remaining for related work. Staff estimated the construction and procurement process (contract signature, insurance, bonding) could take 6–8 weeks, with construction following; staff said the work should be substantially complete within months after contract mobilization.
Councilmember Coops pulled item 15c for questions about scope and cost; after clarification the council moved and seconded approval of the consent calendar, and the roll-call vote was unanimous.
