Summary
Council approved routine consent items, a resolution selecting Evergy Incorporated as electrical provider for a newly annexed property, vacated a small right-of-way remnant, and accepted a $30,000 KDOT grant for impaired-driving mitigation at the Capital Federal Amphitheater.
The Andover City Council approved several routine and administrative items in a single meeting, including a consent agenda, utility selection, right-of-way vacation and a grant agreement.
- Consent agenda: Council approved consent agenda items 8.1 through 8.11 (motion carried 6–0).
- Electrical provider selection: The council adopted a resolution selecting Evergy Incorporated as the electrical provider for property annexed as the Green Meadow addition, generally located at 1904 East Central Avenue (motion carried 6–0). Staff said Evergy already serves the property and service should continue without interruption.
- Vacation of Founders Parkway remnant: Staff requested vacation of a roughly 0.18-acre remnant right-of-way near East Founders Parkway and Sunflower Lane that the city no longer expects to need; council adopted a vacation order. Staff noted KDOT final alignment is nearing completion and the city would not retain maintenance responsibility for the remnant.
- Grant agreement for impaired-driving mitigation: Assistant City Administrator Joanne Graham presented a $30,000 grant award from the Kansas Department of Transportation to support impaired-driving mitigation and outreach at events held at the Capital Federal Amphitheater, including a rideshare voucher component and data-reporting requirements. Council approved the agreement (motion carried 6–0). Staff said partner organizations and rideshare companies will be engaged in later planning stages.
These items passed with routine votes and will proceed to implementation or future administrative steps as noted.
