Norwood library renovation moves into procurement phase; architects engaged

Trustees were updated on progress toward a planned library refurbishing project. Speaker 5 said architects met toward the end of the year and that the project is now advancing through procurement steps to complete drawings and prepare an RFP for construction proposals. "It's going through procurement right now to go through and make sure that we acknowledge everything up to get the next, the drawings, do an RFP, to get it," Speaker 5 said.
Speaker 5 identified Mike Rosen as the staff member driving the project and said staff will follow up to prevent additional delays during the new year. Trustees noted some slowdown over the December period and staff acknowledged the schedule but said they are moving to gather paperwork and begin soliciting proposals so a team can be selected and work can start as quickly as possible.
No firm construction start date was given; Speaker 5 described the overall process as likely to be lengthy. Trustees did not vote on any contract or award at this meeting and no budget figures were discussed.
