The Friendswood Planning & Zoning Commission on Jan. 8 recommended vacating a 20‑foot sanitary sewer easement that crosses multiple lots in the Friendswood City Center subdivision to accommodate a planned relocation of the sewer line.
Aubrey, a city staff member, told commissioners the easement was originally dedicated by Clear Creek Community Church when it extended sewer across FM 528 and that City Center development requires the sanitary line to be moved into the middle of a parking lot. "This is a 20 foot, sanitary sewer easement that was dedicated by Clear Creek Community Church previously when they developed the church and extended the sewer line across the 528," Aubrey said. She said the existing easement is an approximately 0.706‑acre tract recorded as HCCF RP 20259908 in Harris County.
No members of the public spoke during the hearing. Commissioners discussed the process and staff confirmed the developer will dedicate a replacement easement for the relocated line. After the brief discussion, a motion to recommend vacating the existing public easement was made and the chair announced the motion passed.
What happens next: staff indicated the developer will dedicate a new easement for the relocated sewer line and the formal vacation moves forward as a ministerial/administrative step; no further public comment was recorded at the Jan. 8 meeting.
