A Public Works presenter described an intergovernmental agreement with the Illinois Department of Transportation that will provide partial reimbursement to the city for the South Broadway Avenue project (Hassall Avenue to North Avenue). The presenter told the committee the estimated reimbursement amount is $725,736.
"It came up to about, $725,000 and 736 for reimbursement," the presenter said, summarizing the engineering, construction and in‑house management costs included in the estimate.
Staff said the project reached about 90% completion before winter, with approximately 20 water services still to be replaced; the presenter clarified that 98 was the total number referenced earlier in the conversation and that about 78 have been completed. Final restoration and resurfacing work will be performed by IDOT's contractor (Geneva Construction) as part of IDOT's separate resurfacing contract; staff could not specify the exact IDOT completion deadline but noted asphalt plants typically reopen in mid‑April.
A motion to finalize the intergovernmental agreement and accept the reimbursement estimate was made and seconded; the clerk recorded the motion as approved. Committee members asked for clarification about the scope of reimbursement, timing for asphalt resurfacing, and the remaining lead/service replacements; staff provided the numerical estimates during the discussion.
