Taylor City Council approves appointments, contracts and equipment purchases

The Taylor City Council on Dec. 16 approved a package of appointments, vendor contracts and capital purchases, and took routine procedural votes before adjourning.

Among the actions, the council approved renewing the assessing services contract with WCA Assessing for a three-year total of $1,378,067 (Year 1: $437,135; Year 2: $458,009.91; Year 3: $481,009.94), funded through the general fund assessing contractual services. Councilmember Dan Wallace moved the measure; Gerald Thomas supported it and the motion carried.

The council also approved the appointment of Eric Chotjian to the Brownfield Redevelopment Authority for a four-year term ending Oct. 7, 2029, and designated Gerald Thomas as the council representative on the tax increment finance authority (TIFA) and the Brownfield Redevelopment Authority until the end of his term.

Other procurement approvals included a purchase agreement with Bell and Son for restaurant equipment at Lakes of Meadows (not to exceed $8,000), a golf ball dispenser and point-of-sale system (Wigtec Golf Supplies) for up to $21,007 funded by golf course capital outlay, and a Cub Cabby Holdings point-of-sale agreement for golf-course operations funded through golf operating supplies. City staff described the dispenser as a cleaning, elevator-equipped unit with an integrated point-of-sale and membership reporting features; staff estimated that added revenue and labor savings could pay off the unit "within 2 seasons" and possibly in one season.

The council authorized sale of multiple city parcels (parcel IDs listed in the motion) for $10,000 plus closing costs, with proceeds to the general fund. City administration said the lots—on the northwest corner of Princess and Avalon—are likely to be developed with about three new homes.

Capital and equipment approvals included authorizing a high-speed grinder replacement for the compost site (trade-in and replacement of a 2011 model) with a contract amount cited in the meeting not to exceed $1,207,992, funded through capital outlay. The council approved a blanket purchase agreement with Onyx Networking for GCP cloud coverage and a MedTech sole-source purchase for fire-department medical supplies not to exceed $11,854.

All motions listed above were presented during the meeting and carried by voice vote as recorded in the minutes.
