The Tangipahoa Parish policy committee on Jan. 6 approved an amendment to the discipline policy (JD) to simplify language by removing repetitive references to 'teachers' where the policy already uses 'school employees.'
A board member proposed striking the word 'teacher' and using 'school employees' throughout the policy to improve clarity and reading. After a brief procedural discussion about who made and seconded the motion, Mister Westmoreland formally moved the amendment and Miss Rose seconded. The committee voted to allow the amendment and then adopted the revised policy language.
The change was described as stylistic and intended to make the policy read more cleanly; committee members signaled support and did not request substantive alterations to discipline authority or due-process provisions.
The approved wording will be incorporated into the district’s discipline policy documents.
