Pearland ISD trustees accepted a resolution presented by State Rep. Jeff Berry congratulating Pearland High School’s band for selection to the 2026 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and recognized multiple student and staff accomplishments across arts, athletics and GT programs.
State Representative Jeff Berry presented a resolution at the Pearland Independent School District board meeting on Jan. 13 recognizing the Pearland High School band for selection to perform in the 2026 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Berry said the band was chosen from more than 100 applicants and noted a $10,000 Macy’s grant to kick-start fundraising for the trip.
The board and Superintendent Dr. Larry Berger also used the meeting to recognize several campus achievements. Barry Miller Junior High received an Exemplary Distinction Award from the Texas Educational Theater Association; Dawson High’s volleyball team was celebrated for an historic season that included undefeated district play, Region 3 championship and a state runner-up finish; and dozens of junior-high band and choir students were named to region ensembles.
Students from the district’s GT (Gifted and Talented) Academy described coursework and competitions, while representatives from the Girl Scouts and Alexander Middle School thanked district leadership for program support. The board praised volunteers and staff during a brief superintendent remark highlighting district partnerships and commitment to student success.
No board action was required to recognize these achievements; the recognitions were presented during the meeting’s opening segment.
