Supervisors approve routine items, administer oath to new deputy and approve contractor change order

The Kossuth County Board of Supervisors handled several routine actions during its meeting on Jan. 13.
Following the Pledge of Allegiance the board approved the meeting agenda and the minutes from Jan. 6 on a motion by Hawes and a second by Stecker; the motion carried after a voice vote.
Supervisors approved a liquor license for Eagle Hills after a motion by Stecker and a second by Garman. The board then administered the oath of office to Jesus Del Valle Zaviri, who was introduced as a certified officer joining the county sheriff’s department from the Eagle Grove Police Department; oath forms will be signed and filed per Iowa code.
Later in the meeting the board approved a change order for the factory buffer project (motion by Garman, second by Stecker); the presenter noted the contractor is substituting to accommodate deeper private tiles and that the revision represents a net price decrease. The board also approved a drainage repair request after motion and second and recorded the usual aye votes.
No controversial or final policy votes on the drainage improvement petition were taken at the informational meeting; the board closed that hearing after discussion and recorded a consensus to request preliminary reclassification numbers from the engineer.
