The Kernersville Board of Aldermen on Jan. 6 approved Budget Amendment No. 6 to adjust its general fund appropriations for several unbudgeted expenditures.
Town Manager Curtis Swisher explained the amendment includes approximately $87,000 to replace a patrol vehicle that was a total loss, offset by $22,000 in insurance recovery; $6,147 to replace a damaged fire hose; $21,000 in the IT department for firewall upgrades funded by a grant; $73,000 in Parks & Recreation to replace a transformer struck by lightning and to purchase extra event tables; and increases for software license fees. Overall, Swisher said the amendment increases the fund-balance appropriation by roughly $144,000.
Aldermen moved, seconded and unanimously approved the budget amendment required by state law to record these changes in the fiscal-year accounts.
