Belton City Council approved a resolution that changes the Public Arts Commission’s name to the Public Arts Committee and moves city staff to ex officio status.
Staff said the change matches how other advisory committees are structured and is similar to a recent tourism committee reorganization. “This particular resolution removes city staff from, or rather moves them to an ex officio position and also changes the name to the public arts committee instead of commission,” a staff speaker said. The council also heard that appointments and reappointments to the reconstituted committee will be considered later in the meeting cycle.
The resolution passed by voice vote with no recorded opposition.
