The Medina County Board of Commissioners approved a slate of routine resolutions at its meeting, covering subdivision assessments and plats, road resurfacing and bid awards, sanitary‑department procurements, personnel actions, finance transfers and weekly bills, a 2026 stop‑loss insurance agreement and a $30,000 transit contract with the city of Wadsworth.
Dan Becker, representing the county engineer’s office, presented four engineering resolutions: acceptance of assessments for the Hawksbridge/Hawk Ridge subdivision in Montville Township, approval of the final plat for Hawk Ridge, authorization to resurface Greenwich Road (location language varied during discussion), and acceptance and award of bids for resurfacing Lake Road between Greenwich Road and Wedgewood Road in Lafayette Township. A commissioner moved to approve the four items and the board approved them by roll call.
Jeremy Cinco, the sanitary engineer, asked the board to authorize a request for qualifications to design a remodel of the Hinkley Wastewater Treatment Plant administration building and to approve the purchase of a Caterpillar excavator for the line maintenance division. The board approved both resolutions after brief clarification about whether the work referenced Hinkley or Chippewa.
Human Resources Director Holly Murren summarized personnel actions in a single resolution: two hires (maintenance and dog shelter), four rate increases (three in sanitary, one in maintenance), one leave of absence, one probationary removal in sanitary, and one resignation in senior and adult services. The board approved the personnel resolution.
Finance Director Brett Thomas presented six items, including transfers for the print shop ($3,540.54) and the gasoline rotary fund ($19,234.09), a purchase authorization for 7,000 gallons of unleaded gasoline (low bid listed as Sentara Ashland at the price read during the meeting), various official expense reimbursements, and weekly bills totaling $6,999,874.32 (the high total reflected a school‑district distribution this week). The resolution to approve the weekly bills was moved and approved by roll call.
County Administrator Matt Springer brought three administrative resolutions for approval: the 2026 stop‑loss agreement with Medical Mutual on the county’s health plan, a change order to add a card reader to the Administration Building elevator for security, and a 2026 transit agreement with the city of Wadsworth for $30,000. Commissioners approved the three items by roll call.
All motions described above were moved, seconded, and approved in open session; individual roll‑call confirmations are recorded in the meeting transcript.
The board recessed into executive session later in the meeting to consider the compensation of a public employee; budget hearings were scheduled to begin at 10:30 following the executive session.
