Fair manager Alexia Jordan said the board moved a former City of Coeur D'Alene water department building onto the fairgrounds in one piece on Jan. 8 with contractors Welsh Comer and Thorco; foundation work and hookups remain and occupancy is expected in spring.
Alexia Jordan, fair manager for the North Idaho Fair Board, told Kootenai County commissioners that on Jan. 8 the board moved a former City of Coeur D'Alene water‑department building onto the fairgrounds in one piece. "It ended up that we had to move it in 1 piece," Jordan said, describing the coordination with utility companies and contractors Welsh Comer and Thorco to clear signals and transport the structure in under two hours.
Jordan said crews will place the building on its foundation, reconnect utilities and pave a driveway and parking access before staff move in. She noted the board purchased the building from Coeur D'Alene and that volunteers and contractors made the move possible through coordinated planning; she also said she has a video of the move.
No county action was taken at the meeting; Jordan said the board hopes to complete the final site work and occupy the building in spring.
