West Miami sets April 14 elections and amends canvassing board composition

City attorney and staff described procedural elements included in the resolutions: designation of the canvassing board, closing of voter registration books, designated hours and places for voting, and qualifying periods and fees. The city attorney confirmed the canvassing board composition may be specified within the resolution.
An amendment to the resolution established a three‑member canvassing board consisting of the city clerk, a state judge residing in the county (or alternate judge), and the chairman of the planning & zoning board (or the next most senior planning board member if the position is unfilled). The amended motion was moved, seconded and approved by voice vote.
