DFR reports high December response rates; hospital foundation funds blood warmers for supervisor vehicles

An unidentified representative from DFR told the Decatur ARB at its monthly meeting that DFR achieved a 98% fractal response rate for echo, delta and bravo calls in December and that 304 calls were completed within nine minutes.
“For the month of December, for echo, delta, and bravo, DFR had 98 percent fractal response rate,” the representative said. The presenter invited questions from the board and staff.
The Decatur EMS presenter reported December activity totals of 1,415 requests for service and 1,102 transports. Of those transports, 209 were city-based echo/delta/bravo calls and 17 were in the police jurisdiction for those call types. The EMS speaker said response-time standards were met about 92% of the time in the city limits and at a similar rate in the police jurisdiction; alpha, charlie and omega calls were reported at 98% in the city and 100% in the PJ.
Board members and staff discussed the underlying data. The EMS presenter said they found CAD-data errors in the initial December report; staff member Samantha reviewed the data and an updated report was issued. The presenter said quarterly reports are due next month and staff will finalize corrected figures before submission.
Separately, the EMS presenter said the hospital foundation ran a Giving Tuesday fundraiser that provided funds specifically to purchase blood warmers. Those warmers will be placed in supervisor vehicles and the presenter said a fourth backup warmer will be available for critical transports; the equipment has been ordered and is expected by the start of the second quarter.
The DFR representative and EMS staff did not provide a meeting date in the transcript. The presenters said corrected quarterly statistics will be available when Samantha finishes the CAD-data review.
