Kenosha County board honors longtime supervisor Stanley Kirkman

Supervisor Decker led the Kenosha County Board of Supervisors in a tribute to former supervisor Stanley Kirkman, who died Dec. 30, 2025, recalling Kirkman’s long service to the county and his community ties.
Decker said Kirkman served 24 years on the county board from 1968 to 1992 and was county board chairman from 1982 to 1984. He noted Kirkman’s longtime role as chair of the land use committee and credited him with shaping development policy in the county. Decker also described Kirkman’s life in the Wheatland area, his involvement at St. Alphonsus Church and his work in the construction industry with Kirkman Brothers construction.
“Let us enter into a moment of silence for Stanley Kirkman,” Decker said, and the board observed a pause in the meeting. Decker added that Kirkman shared music with nursing home residents and that his “warmth, generosity, and willingness to give back” made him a beloved community figure.
The board’s tribute was delivered during the supervisor reports portion of the meeting; after the moment of silence the board proceeded to its business agenda, including appointments and land-use matters.
