The Central York School District will host a districtwide 'Voice and Choice' professional development day on April 1 at the high school, the curriculum committee confirmed on Jan. 12. Speaker 3 described a format that allows teachers and support staff to select sessions led primarily by fellow district educators.
The morning will feature three 50‑minute sessions focused on instructional strategies, curriculum design, social‑emotional learning and leadership. The afternoon will be devoted to wellness and offer physical wellness activities, emotional wellness programming, financial literacy and arts‑based options; Speaker 3 said some sessions will be led by physical education, art, music and culinary staff and that pickleball is likely to be among the activities.
Speaker 3 said presenters were solicited in December and that planning leads (Missus Zach and Missus Faby) are working with assistant principals and staff to finalize the schedule. The district will start the day with a district breakfast, provide snacks and is exploring food‑truck options for lunch; cafeteria programs may also contribute offerings.
Support staff are invited to participate; Speaker 3 noted the full‑day schedule this year makes it feasible for support staff to attend in ways past half‑day in‑services did not allow. The committee will finalize session offerings and produce a selection guide for staff to make choices before April 1.
