Amina, the student liaison from Fluvanna County High School, presented the results of a student‑designed survey and told the school board the survey gathered roughly 220 responses.
The report highlighted students
sking the board to prioritize improved facilities and restrooms, more diverse and healthier lunch options, expanded AP and elective offerings, additional mental‑health resources and later start times. Amina said staff had discussed the results with school leadership and described immediate steps already taken: additional microwaves in the cafeteria to speed service and changes to custodian duties to improve restroom monitoring.
Principals from multiple schools introduced their nominated teacher and support‑staff honorees. Miss Margo Bruce and other principals described classroom practices and contributions; the board announced the divisionwide Teacher of the Year and Staff Member of the Year and invited honorees and family members forward for recognition and photos.
Board members praised the studentsor organizing and presenting the survey. Trustees asked staff to provide follow‑up information on how survey findings will be incorporated into planning for academics, facilities and student supports. The board did not take formal action on the survey results at the meeting but directed staff to consider the suggestions in ongoing planning.
