Gardner City License Commission approves Dec. 16 minutes, conducts annual officer elections

The Gardner City License Commission met Tuesday, Jan. 13, and approved the Dec. 16, 2025 meeting minutes and completed its annual organizational votes.

The meeting opened at 4:30 p.m. with Speaker 2 reading procedural rules about recording meetings and the requirement that documents used during the meeting be submitted to the clerk and become part of the official record. Speaker 2 also noted the commission consists of three members and that a quorum of two is required for motions; local rulings on violations under section 14 may be appealed to the AVCC within five days of a written decision.

During the minutes review, Speaker 1 asked whether the 2026 liability insurance policy had been provided and pointed out a small typographical error in the draft minutes (a stray 'b' in the Gardner deep sea club entry). The commission then conducted its required January organizational meeting. Speaker 2 summarized an ordinance change requiring boards to vote officer positions each January. Speaker 1 moved that "Mike become chair" and that the other nominated member serve as vice chair; the motion was approved by voice vote, with participants indicating unanimity. Speaker 2 announced that Ken Olsen will remain a commission member.
