Beecher board approves $336,963.45 in bills, designates SSMMA rep and moves to executive session

The Beecher Village Board approved a list of bills and payroll totaling $336,963.45 and took several other administrative actions at its Jan. 12 meeting, including designating a representative to an intergovernmental environmental justice committee and voting to adjourn into executive session on personnel matters.

Trustee Kraus, speaking for the finance and administration committee, moved to approve the bills and payroll in the amount of $336,963.45. The motion was seconded and passed on roll call with all trustees present voting yes.

Under the mayor’s report, the mayor said the village had been asked to participate by what was referred to in the meeting as “South Suburban Bay Area Managers” and that there is a new committee called environmental justice. The mayor requested that the mayor serve as the village representative and named “Charity” as the alternate. The board moved and approved the designation by roll call.

Later in the meeting the chief requested an executive session to discuss personnel. The board then made and seconded a motion to adjourn into executive session; a roll call followed and the motion carried, moving the meeting into a closed session to address personnel matters.

Several routine commission reports were received during the meeting, including a parks report that stated total tax income for December 2025 was reported in the transcript as "$270,000.413 and 92¢." The transcript did not include a breakdown of those receipts. The board’s agenda included standard items and no ordinances or resolutions with substantive policy debate were introduced during the open meeting.

Votes recorded during the meeting were procedural and administrative; no contested or divided votes were recorded in the open session.
