NVTA staff reports 27 project requests totaling just shy of $1.3 billion for six-year program

NVTA staff reported to the full authority on Dec. 11 that it is analyzing 27 candidate projects for the authority’s six-year program with a combined funding request described as "just shy of $1,300,000,000." Miss Bachman, who gave the report, said the authority’s six-year program will include fiscal years 2030 and 2031 even though it is presented as a six-year slate.
"We are analyzing and evaluating 27 projects with the total request of just shy of $1,300,000,000," Miss Bachman said. Staff asked jurisdictions to consider program estimates as their local budget seasons begin and noted staff will refine estimates as the board considers the package.
Bachman also noted that NVTA staff was recognized by the Women’s Transportation Seminar DC chapter as employer of the year; members exchanged holiday greetings and acknowledged this meeting as the authority's last session of the year.
The report did not include final funding decisions; staff said estimates and vetting will continue as part of the authority's program development process. The board did not take a final funding vote at this meeting but directed staff to continue analysis and to report back as budget estimates firm up.
The authority’s organizational meeting is scheduled for Jan. 8, when leadership nominations will be finalized and public comment is expected.
