An administrator told the committee that Riverside Local met state expectations in the Ohio Department of Education's special-education rating and that the district's preliminary special-education profile—released in December—also met expectations.
"We did meet expectations," the administrator said, summarizing the report as indicating compliance and positive outcomes for students. The final profile, the administrator added, will be released in May and will include more detailed data on student growth and gap-closing measures.
Separately, the district announced preschool registration plans: general registration for new preschool students will open on Feb. 9; priority registration for returning families has been moved to Feb. 20–30 to allow the district to incorporate changes brought by the new kindergarten eligibility date. Administrators said preschool classrooms are integrated, with roughly an 8/8 ratio of students with disabilities and typically developing peers, and that the program currently runs four morning and four afternoon sessions (eight sessions total).
District staff said they will continue to analyze the special-education profile and share final data in May, and they will post preschool registration materials and permission details to reflect the new kindergarten start-date policy.
