Granite County adopts 2026 meeting schedule, travel rates and jail credit rate

Staff said Resolution 2026‑1 establishes regular meeting dates (not prescriptive office hours) and cited prior practices and an Attorney General opinion concerning the limits of setting office hours. Commissioner (unnamed) moved to adopt Resolution 2026‑1; the motion was seconded and passed by voice vote.
Commissioners then addressed travel reimbursement. Staff explained county mileage calculations and said the county’s rates comply with state law; the commission adopted Resolution 2026‑2 establishing mileage, lodging and per‑diem rates for business travel in 2026.
Finally, the board adopted Resolution 2026‑3 setting the daily incarceration credit rate for calendar year 2026. Each resolution was moved, seconded and approved by voice vote during the meeting.
Public comment during the resolution discussion focused on transparency and public access to documents; Elena Gagliano asked for references to supporting statutes and expressed concern about locating older resolutions on the county website (“The public is entitled to seeing this information,” she said). Staff committed to provide the referenced Attorney General opinion and related documents to the commissioners and public.
What happens next: staff will circulate the Attorney General opinion and ensure the county posts or provides the referenced documents for public review. The adopted resolutions take effect immediately as county policy for 2026.
