On second reading the commission approved two related ordinances: one repealing the Arts and Cultural Center advisory board and a second establishing a new Arts in Aventura board.
City staff said the original advisory board — created in 2008 to support the Arts & Cultural Center’s operations — will be replaced by a broader entity charged with promoting public art, supporting local and emerging artists and partnering with community organizations to expand programming and fundraising opportunities. The manager said the city will issue an announcement by the end of the week seeking board members and plans to present candidate names at the February workshop.
There was no public comment and no commissioner questions on either ordinance; both measures passed unanimously.
