Aventura adopts year-end budget amendment, earmarks $3.2 million for land for new high school

The manager said the amendment reallocates surplus capital reserves, including interest earnings, and specifically identified a $3,200,000 allocation to purchase land for a proposed new high school. "This amendment includes the allocation of $3,200,000 for the purpose [of] purchase of additional land for the new high school," the manager said. According to the manager, that purchase would be funded entirely from surplus capital reserves.
There was no public comment on the ordinance and no substantive commissioner questions; the clerk recorded unanimous approval when each commissioner answered 'Yes.' The ordinance will be codified and the manager is authorized to take actions necessary to implement the amendment.
