“Tanya” (finance staff) said the county moved to one software and one bank after a rebid and is using an insured cash sweep arrangement and the Local Government Investment Pool to increase interest earnings. She described reporting constraints with the new software and clarified that reports showing “December” reflect July 1–Dec. 31 activity under the county’s fiscal calendar.
Tanya described a recent case of check fraud and the county’s decision to deploy positive pay to block similar attempts. “Positive pay is basically an extra layer of security protection,” she said, adding the system allowed staff to stop a repeated attempt to cash a fraudulent check. She reported the positive-pay service was included in the banking package at no additional charge.
On tax relief, Tanya reported the county showed 773 tax-relief applicants, with 100 new veterans approved; with the county match, she said, the total was 236 (county plus match). Commissioners asked about compensating hourly employees who work after hours on livestreaming and about moving a budget line item to cover IT overtime if needed.
