Anderson City Council approved a lump‑sum design contract of $702,000 with the Craig, Golden & Davis/PBK team to design Fire Station 4, a project staff said is intended to improve response capacity on the city’s northern end.
Assistant city manager Andrew Strickland summarized the RFQ process and recommended the firm after nine submittals. He said the design contract would be complete in fall 2026 and that construction would start shortly thereafter, with a projected 12–16‑month construction period. The total project, including site work, architectural and construction costs, was discussed at approximately $10,000,000.
Councilors expressed support for proceeding given growth in the northern commercial corridor and the stretch that currently burdens Station 2. Staff said the city purchased property for Station 4 in October 2024 and emphasized the long‑term nature of the building’s design goal: a generational facility intended to remain functional for decades.
The council moved, seconded and approved the design award by unanimous vote.
