The Bettendorf City Council unanimously approved a resolution at its Jan. 6 meeting to submit the city’s FY2026 application for Federal Transit Administration Section 5310 financial assistance.
Connor Flaherty moved approval of the resolution; the motion was seconded and passed on a roll-call vote with all recorded members voting "aye." City staff and the clerk confirmed notice of the required public hearing was published and that no written correspondence had been received on the item.
Brian, identified at the meeting as the transit presenter, described the grant as a federal funding source that helps offset the operating cost of the local transit system and said the city is required to hold a public hearing and pass a resolution to suballocate the funds. "This is one of those federal grants to help offset the operating cost for our transit system, and we are required to hold a public hearing and have a resolution passed through council in order to have those funds suballocated to the city of Bettendorf," Brian said.
With no members of the public commenting during the hearing, the council moved immediately to the resolution. The clerk called the roll and recorded unanimous approval, after which the mayor encouraged staff to pursue the award and return with required documentation.
